BTS in Santiago: ARIRANG Tour Chile Recap

After months of uncertainty over the venue, BTS finally played Chile — and the country answered loudly. The group performed three ARIRANG World Tour shows at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional on October 14, 16 and 17, 2026, their first concerts in Chile in about a decade. Here is a recap of the Santiago run: the setlist, the surprise songs, Jimin’s birthday celebration, the fan stories and the unusual praise ARMY received from Chilean police. Four Highlights from the Video

  • A stadium singing together: the narrator highlights the audience’s Korean-language singalongs and V’s stage presence.
  • A local cultural tribute: ponchos and huaso-inspired outfits become a focal point of the final-night account.
  • Spine Breaker and shared memories: the recap connects the encore song with the group’s playful, self-produced video associated with their 2017 Chile visit.
  • An emotional farewell: the closing section follows the members’ gratitude and the audience’s response.

Why This Recap Matters

The video presents the night as a reunion built on familiar songs, local recognition and a long relationship with Chilean ARMY. Those are the creator’s emphases; translated remarks are paraphrased here rather than treated as verified quotations. The video is embedded from its original YouTube upload.

The Show: Three Acts and Two Surprises

CNN en Español described a three-act show that opened with Park Dawool’s instrumental “GeomunToy” before the overture to “Hooligans.” Act one ran through “Hooligans,” “Aliens,” “RUN,” “Like Animals,” “SWIM” and “Merry Go Round”; act two brought “Normal,” “MIC Drop,” “Body to Body” — with the stadium singing the arirang section — and “Idol”; act three closed with “Come Over,” “Butter” and “Dynamite” before the finale, “Into the Sun.”

Each night included two surprise songs. In Santiago these included “Heartbeat,” which CNN said had never been performed live on tour, and the early fan favourite “Spine Breaker.” For one show the members even came out dressed as Chilean huasos (traditional horsemen). Shows started no more than two minutes late, and unlike the North American, European and Asian dates, there were no side screens in South America.

Jimin’s 31st Birthday in Chile

Jimin turned 31 on October 13, and Santiago turned the first show into a party. Fans filled the stadium with yellow balloons and banners, sang “Happy Birthday” to a giant “HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMIN” screen and chanted his name while he wore a birthday crown. Around the city, LED trucks and large screens played congratulatory messages. On stage he told the crowd: “We’ve met again after nearly 10 years — you missed us, right?” and called it an extremely happy day. He later shared backstage clips of a birthday cake with the members, staff and dancers.

What the Members Said

  • RM: “You are the best. Thank you so much for everything, Chile.”
  • Jungkook said the screams would be hard to forget, promised to return to Santiago and loved his new local nickname, “Mijito rico, JK.”
  • V promised to come back, declared himself a fan of Chilean empanadas and led the chant “Chi-chi-chi, le-le-le, viva Chile!”
  • Suga said Chile has the best fans, so the group has no choice but to return.
  • Jimin said he did not want to leave Chile.

Police Praise for ARMY

Security was heavy, but the headlines were positive. Carabineros reported more than 2,500 identity and vehicle checks and 15 detentions around the stadium; one was linked to ticket fraud, and police warned fans to buy only from official channels. General Alex Bahamondes publicly commended the conduct of ARMY fan groups and said there had been no public-order problems, and the investigative police (PDI) praised fans’ cooperation at the airport and land borders. On October 16, the Carabineros band even played “Dynamite” near La Moneda Palace to thank concertgoers.

Fans Who Travelled Thousands of Kilometres

El País Chile, quoted by Korean media, met fans like María Cruz Mamani from Bolivia, who saved for six years and travelled about 30 hours to attend, and a family that flew in from South Africa. Santiago Metro extended some lines until midnight and set up traffic measures around Ñuñoa. The concerts went ahead after organisers agreed on conditions to protect the stadium pitch, ending a saga that had included fan protests over the venue earlier in the year.
