ZEROBASEONE leader Sung Han-bin has officially started his solo career. His first EP, DEAD:ALIVE, was released on October 12, 2026 at 6 PM KST, led by the title track “UNDEAD.” It is a sharp turn away from the bright, youthful image of his group: a dark, cinematic record built around the keyword “beautiful destruction.” Below you can watch the official music video, see the first chart results and read what he said at his debut showcase.

The three-minute video (runtime 3:05) passed 7.2 million views on the official channel within about two days of release, with more than 4,000 comments. The track pairs a heavy guitar riff with a grand choir and dynamic drums, and the performance is built around dance — widely considered Sung Han-bin’s biggest strength since his Boys Planet days.

What He Said at the Showcase
At the media showcase at Layers Studio 11 in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Sung Han-bin explained why he chose an intense concept for his first solo outing. He said he had considered keeping ZEROBASEONE’s bright image but was “ultimately more drawn to something new and intense,” and that a powerful sound would show his identity as a solo artist best.
- “For the first time, I wanted to run away from the recording booth. I didn’t think I could sing this style.” — he re-recorded the songs four or five times before finding his sound.
- “I had too many songs I wanted on my first album, so we ended up with eight.”
- As the first ZEROBASEONE member to debut solo, he said he wanted to “take the lead” and set a good example for his groupmates.
- He named SHINee’s Taemin and EXO’s Kai as solo performers he studied, and NCT’s Jaehyun as a role model.
He also said that after wrapping up ZEROBASEONE activities in May he felt he needed change, and that he plans to balance solo work with group activities going forward.
